Land of Lincoln

We're in Ind. now.  We went to the Gen. Lew Wallace Museum today.  He wrote Ben Hur way back when.  Our guide sure is proud of this gentleman.

This is a gas fireplace from 1899.  He was ahead of his time.
This is the general's study.  It's like a "man cave".  The fireplace is in this building.
Here is your dad in "New Salem" Ill.  This is the village where Lincoln live when he was about 22 years old.  Erv's petting the horse in this period museum.
This guy is the cooper.  He's making a pitcher of wood that people would have used in the 1830's.

These cabins were moved here and put back on the original foundations.

This is a store that Lincoln opened and watched it fail.  My thought is there were too many stores (8) in this small village.

One of the statue of Lincoln at the visitors center,

Another Lincoln statue.
This is the train station and sculpture in downtown Springfeild.  He practiced law in this capitol.

Here is the entrance of the Lincoln Museum.

Inside the museum and the only thing we could take a picture of.  This is wax figures of the Lincoln family as they moved into the White House.

We leave here, Crawfordsville, Ind. in the morning.  We'll drive to Springfield, Ohio for two nights.  I sure hope the weather cools off soon.  The only good thing has been that the humidity is way down.  From the news tonight it looks like it may rain tomorrow night.  That ought raise the humidity.

More next week.  Love, Mom and Dad

Cool photos, It'll be cool to see some others when you get home.

BTW, your tomatoes are AWESOME! They are really meaty and have a great taste. Ours haven't even thought of turning ripe yet.
