The views are breath taking.
This is from the gondola taking us up Cannon Mt. in New Hampshire.
From the other side of the gondola.
This is what we rode to the top.
The next day we rode a cog railroad up to the top of Mt. Washington also in New Hampshire.
We didn't get to go with this steam engine, but you can see it pushes the train car up the mountain.
At the top you can see what we saw. A sign said that they have fog 60% of the time.
The waether station up top.
I guess it's true because the wind was once measured at 231 mph.
The inside of the car we rode downthe mountain. The engine slowly backs down the mountain and the car just leans up against the engine. The two are not really conected.
This is above the tree line.
See the other train behind our car. That day they ran several trains up and down.
The fog was wild.
This is a close up of the cogs that the trains run on.
On a third day we got on a train and rode up the valley for two and a half hours. We had a boxed lunch then rode back to the campground.
A view from the train.
The trees at their peak of color.
again
We stopped at Crawford Notch for a while.
We got to ride the in the dome car back. Of course it was raining again.
Our engine going around to the front of the train to pull us back.
I said it was raining.
But when we got back it was clear. That's the dome car we rode in. We were VIP passengers.
I've got more pictures but they are for another day. And I keep forgetting to answer Mark about Kathy and John. Yes they still have the dairy farm. They have 89 cows of which only about 50 are milking at the moment. The rest are heffers or are pregnant. Not for me thank you. But I'm glad someone does it or I wouldn't have cheese or yogurt.
Gotta go. It's time to do the laundry.
