Quebec City nightlife, New Hampshire

This is one of the views from the rotating resturant where we had a wonderful dinner.

the sunset

the city at night

Jeannine and Allen Porteous from Manatoba.

Cyndy and John Byles from Ontario.  These two couples were our table mates that night.

And us

We're back in the US.

They say the colors are at it's peak.

This is the Balsom Resort.  It is being restored at the moment.  But it is said that this is where the first voters in the states vote and report the results.  All 6 of them.

This creek was just behind our rig in Colbrook, NH.

It's starting to rain.

Isn't it beautiful?

This is the Androscoggin River.  Say that three times.

We ate breakfast here at Polly's Pancake Parlor.  We met the original owners daughter.  She's at least 90.

At a store near the Parlor.  He's all dressed up and waiting for his date.

This is the general store in Bath, NH.

This is said to be the longest covered bridge in NH.  The sign says that you will be fined $1 if you drive your team faster that it can be walked.  1830's were stricted.

This tree was outside a maple sugar house and Christmas tree farm.

The view from the back of the sugar mill and Christmas tree farm.

They told us that the Indians made maple syrup in this hollow log with HOT stones.

We are moving today 30 miles down the road to Glen, NH.  Of course we have tons more pictures.  We went to the top of Mt. Washington and a bunch of other places.  If we have a good signal next time I'll send a bunch more.  Talk to you all soon.  Love

Montreal and Quebec City

This is the big house at Shelbourn Farms in Vermont.  It's an experimental farm from about 1915 to today.

This is the sitting room in the house which is now a hotel that is only open from May to October.

Then we went to Montreal.  This is from the 1972 or 76 summer Olympics.  We toured it in the rain.

We took a tram up inside this tower and could see forever.  Downtown Montreal that is.

See how far we could see?

And more of the city.

That white thing is the Biodome.  It has all the different terrains of Canada.  Pretty neat

This an inside view of Notre Dame in Montreal.  We went there next.

The next day we traveled up to  Old Quebec City.  It is beautiful.  If I spoke French I would have loved to spend a lot more time there.  This is a little street that was here in the 1600's.  Very charming.

That's us in front of a huge wall painting.

The tree are starting to change.

This is a federal government building in Quebec.  Kind of like our state capitol building.  At the right of the photo is a screen covering sand blasting of the building.  I had to get very close to see that it wasn't the building itself.  Pretty neat.

This was our tour guide, Pierre.

This is back in old Quebec City, the upper city.  It is so quaint.  I almost felt like we were back in France.

We could see the St. Lawerence
from the upper city.  Quebec is on a few hills.
We went to see a waterfall and have a lovely luncheon.  This is the view from our table.  WOW

You can walk across a foot bridge and go to the top of these stairs and walk down to the bottom.  We didn't have time to do it.  So sad.  lol

Me and the winter carnival masscot.

The falls from the bottom.  We were driven there in a bus.  I didn't walk it.

The sun was warm that day.

We went to a copper store and watched one of the owners shows how to make a copper wall hanging by pressing a pattern with a pen like tool.  I bought myself some beautiful earrings made right there.

And the last thing we did there was to go to the Notre Dame in Quebec City.  I think they have a Notre Dame in a lot of cities of Quebec.

I've got more pictures to send, but I'll try to get to them in a couple of days.  I mean there is a ton of pics.  The trees are at their peak now and I've gone nuts.  And we are going to be busy, busy, busy for the next two or three days.  Will write then.

New Hampshire and Vermont

This is more of the White Mountains in NH.

We went to visit John and Kathy Gorton in Nortthern VT.  This is just a sample of John's "toys."
Here's John with some more of his toys.

This is Kathy with their youngest grandchild.  You remember this couple.  They stayed with you three while we went to Spain.

This is Brr Morse.  He runs a maple syrup operation here in VT.  He told us how he does it and had us in stitches the whole time.
We visited the capital, Montpelier, Vt.
We also visited the Rock of Ages granite quarry.  It is huge.  That rock face is about 600 feet with about 60 feet more under the water.

People put strange headstones on their graves made of ....you guessed it,  VT. granite.

We visited a glass blower.

And we went to Ben and Jerry's  for a tour.   The best part was the tasting at the end.  We also bought a scoop after the tour.  Yum

And of course we went to the Teddy Bear factory for a tour.  We didn't get a sample here.

We got our picture made on this BIG bear sofa.
We went to a farm type of museum here in Shelbourn,VT.

There is the Tyconderoga on the property.  We saw a film about how it was moved from Lake Champlain for 10 or 12 mile to the museum.  It use to take people across the lake from NY to VT before a bridge was built.

As you can see we've been busy, but have been having a good time so far.  Tomorrow we go into Canada so there won't be a blog until after September 24.  bye for now.
